On December 4th at 5:30 PM the El Capitan PTSA will be hosting a special benefit for Shela Black, one of the beloved teachers at El Capitan School. As many of you already know, Teacher Shela has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing treatments. We are here to show our support and help ease her financial burden during this difficult time. This fundraiser will take place in the gymnasium and will feature a dinner, concert, bake sale, and silent auction, with all proceeds going to assist Shela and her family.
The highlight of the evening will include a special concert featuring guitar virtuoso David Jorgensen and vocal songbird Laura Lounsbury. The music will include classical guitar pieces and a mix of vocal jazz and holiday songs. David has been dubbed one of the "best guitarists in Southern Utah", and is every excited to return to El Capitan auditorium. The last time he performed on this stage was for his "Christmas Guitars" concert with fellow classical guitarist Paul Barfuss. The sold-out show was incredibly well-received. He is very pleased to perform for the community once again, especially for such a worthy cause. David and Laura have been performing as a duo for 3 years, and put on a breathtaking show. Laura has shared the stage with many respected musicians in Southern Utah and has a reputation for the ability to "sing anything". Her style has been compared to that of Norah Jones, Astrud Gilberto, and Joan Baez. This is a performance not to be missed. Dinner is included in your ticket price and will be a buffet style chili/soup/salad bar served between 5:30 and 6:15. The concert will begin at 6:30.
