Live Music by Calvin and the Coal Cars

On July 24th, Leon Huscka was involved in a head on collision with a semi on a Montana two-lane highway while riding his motorcycle to Helena to meet up with his new bride, Michelle, for a concert they were excited to attend.  Leon was in a drug induced coma until August 12th, during which time, numerous surgeries were performed.  Miraculously, Leon did not sustain any head or spine injury, however,  as result of the accident, Leon's left leg and eventually his left arm had to be amputated.  After spending 25 days in ICU and 6 days on the 6th floor of St. Vincent Hospital, Leon was transferred to Advanced Care Hospital August 23rd, where he spent 42 days doing physical & occupational therapy.  On October 4th, Leon made a trip to St. Luke's Rehab Hospital in Spokane where he spent 15 days in more intensive rehabilitation.  On October 20th Leon was finally able go home... 89 days after the accident!

Leon goes to physical therapy and occupational therapy twice a week since returning home.  He has spent the months since training on a couple of different prosthetic legs and just about a month ago, was fitted with an amazing micro-chipped knee which will be his "forever" leg.  The pain in Leon's left arm had been virtually unbearable and after many discussions with his med team, Leon made the very difficult decision to amputate and on January 22nd, the surgery was performed.  There have been absolutely no regrets for Leon in making that decision!  Leon is currently being fitted for his prosthetic arm and hand and should have it in the very near future.  The other life change for Leon and Michelle is that as of March 1st, Leon was retired from the City of Billings after 31 years.  While he is excited at the possibility of venturing on to new and different avenues, it was not something he was expecting to have to do quite yet.

Thank you all for the love and support shown to Leon and Michelle over these last 8-1/2 months... we can't wait to see everyone on May 18th to celebrate our friends and give them a little help!!
