Boeing Announced as Title Sponsor for LDW4

Charleston, SC, Aug. 21, 2013 -  Boeing Aerospace Company officially came onboard this week as the Title Sponsor for the 2013, Lt Dan Band benefit concert for the Independence Fund taking place at The Citadel’s Johnson Hagood football stadium on September 14th at 8pm. Gates will open at 5:30pm.

“It’s a big step forward for this all volunteer effort to support the troops,” said Charleston resident Lisa Sternke, an Independence Fund volunteer who is married to a disabled veteran and who coordinated the Boeing sponsorship for LDW4 over the past two months.

Headlining the event in his fifth appearance for The Independence Fund is well known entertainer and Oscar nominated actor, Gary Sinise, who will lead his “Lt Dan Band” in an inspiring performance on the 50yard line of The Citadel’s football stadium.

The all volunteer Independence Fund is a South Carolina registered 501(c)3 organization. Donations to the group are tax-deductible and are used to provide injured troops with the tools, therapies and guidance that they otherwise are not receiving. 100% of the proceeds from the Sept 14th concert will remain in South Carolina to benefit severely injured veterans in accordance with The Independence Fund’s mission.

“We are grateful that the leadership of a great company like Boeing has gotten behind this effort, and all that Mr. Sinise and American Airlines has done to support our troops as well” said the founder of The Independence Fund after learning of Boeing’s support. “In appreciation of this we have decided to offer Boeing’s 6,000 local employees and their family members 1/2 priced promotional tickets that may be purchased online off the event website.”

The event website is www.LDW4.org. Along with the Sept. 14 concert there will be a Friday night “Party in the Park” at Charleston’s Brittlebank Park where more than 200 severely injured veterans and caregivers will be honored at a free event which will include a free BBQ music for all attendees, and a Saturday morning family friendly bike ride as well as a 5K which will start a 9am at The Citadel’s Johnson Hagood football stadium.

“This is a chance for the greater Charleston community to show the rest of the country what “Support the Troops” really means,” said Independence Fund board member and severely injured veteran, Sergeant Major Jesse Acosta, USA(ret.). “We can’t wait to see that happen!”
