DeQuan Bowman an 8th grader at Benjamin D. Foulois Middle School, currently maintaining a 3.875 GPA and recently became a member of the National Junior Honor Society. A young man who is active in our community assisting the elderly, attending etiquette school at church, and participating in a host of recreational activities. DeQuan has been accepted in to People to People's Ambassdaor Program. This program will provide him with an oppotunity to earn academic credit through this travel experience, while a Student Ambassador. Upon enrollment, 9-12 grade students are automatically registered in a high school elective social studies credit course, Ambassadorial Studies and the service learning course, Service Learning through Applied Leadership, with the Washington School of World Studies. This accredited institution has developed courses that build upon the Student Ambassador experience and reinforce the People to People mission of peace through understanding. Moreover, these courses are designed to: 1. Enhance students understanding of foreign people and places.
2. Teach students to develop self confidence in themselves as world observers.
3. Encourage students to gain an appreciation of higher education as an important
partner in achieving future goals
4. Provide Students with an academic transcript containing college-level courses to
help set themselves apart in today's highly competitive university admission.
