Baltimore, MD -  Kinetics Dance Company presents GLASS at 8pm on Saturday evening, May 14th, at the Baltimore Museum of Art's  Meyerhoff Auditorium.  An evening of contemporary modern dance, the concert will feature four premiers.

Artistic Director Lauren Snyder presents a new work exploring themes of depth, submersion, and reflection, with the goal of creating a  layered viewing experience wherein hidden movement surfaces into sight.  Company dancer Erin Gum premiers a piece manipulating visual point-of-view and perception.  Meagan Singleton restages “Immersion,” using precise, desperate movement to convey a visceral sense of fear.  Company member Franki Trout premiers a light and comedic new duet about the unwrapping and opening of packages.

Also on the evening’s program is “The Thing You Think You Cannot Do" (2015), by guest artist Ken Skrzesz, evoking the words of Orison Swett Marsen, Frank Herbert, Henry James, John Lennon, and Eleanor Roosevelt in a resilient and joyful quintet.   "Fact/st/ory" (2015), a piece by Lauren Snyder, juxtaposes the cadence and meter in the work of Edgar Allan Poe with sounds and images from an industrial mid-19th century city.   “Hints” (2015), by Erin Gum, set to  music by Chopin, untangles and amplifies a bond between song and movement.

Thirty-one years in existence, Kinetics Dance Theatre is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and presentation of contemporary dance as a living art form to the community.  KDT houses Kinetics Dance Company, its resident performing group home to 14 professional dancers, Kinetics School of Contemporary Dance, offering classes in dance technique and theory to students of all ages and levels, and four student performing companies which allow students to perform and participate in workshops throughout the region.  Kinetics Dance Company presents professional modern dance year-round in a variety of venues throughout the mid-Atlantic region and each season hosts visiting choreographers and performing artists. In each of its three components Kinetics demonstrate its strong commitment to the region by emphasizing community involvement through dance presentation, outreach, and education.
