In 1923 Playwrights George F. Kaufman and Marc Connelly created Helen of Troy, NY a musical comedy about Troy’s famous collar industry. With a dozen songs written by the famous duo of Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby, Helen of Troy, NY played 191 Broadway performances at the Selwyn Theater (June 19, 1923-October 7, 1923) and Times Square Theater (October 8-December 1) in New York City.

Helen Ford who went on to become one of Broadway’s most famous actresses played the lead role of Helen. Ironically, Helen Ford was born in Troy, NY.

Local historian Don Rittner and European theater director Justyna Kostek have teamed up to present for the first time performance of this play about Troy IN Troy!

There will be a contest in the program for patrons to find hidden factoids about Troy’s history.
